Color Throw Down Challenge # 551

So today, for the very first time, I participated in a card challenge! This is the Color Throw Down Challenge #551. It’s a weekly challenge where colors are given and you create something using those colors. You can find info here: https://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/

This weeks challenge is being hosted by Amy R from Prairie, paper and ink (Find her here: https://www.youtube.com/user/PrairiePaperandInk ). Her chosen colors for the week are pink, white, black and gold.

As soon as I saw this challenge I knew exactly what stamp I wanted to use. This is one I have used many times in the past, it’s an old favorite from Stampendous, found on clearance at Hobby Lobby. The stamp is pretty old, but the same effect can be made using a flat brush, ruler and your favorite water colors!

I love to make backgrounds, but don’t always use them immediately. This background was made during some recent play time. It’s made with water color paper and a few spritzes of Tim Holtz Distress oxide spray in Picked Raspberry. I Then used some distress crayons on the stamp, I chose black soot and picked raspberry for this. Once I colored my stamps I gave it a quick spray of water ( a very light mist, actually) and stamped it onto some Strathmore water color paper, using the smooth side. As you can see, it left me with a very lightly stamped design. I used a circle die cut to cut the stamped image. I then heat embossed my sentiment on to some vellum, using gold embossing powder. I adhered the stamped piece to my background, then added the vellum strip around the background piece. The entire piece was then added to a card base, made from Neenah Solar white 110. For a little extra bling, I used my Nuvo Glitter drops, in Honey Gold.
