Hello all! I’ve been hard at work the past few days making some cards. A few were special requests, and a few were just because!! I love “playing” in my craft space, watching videos or reading magazines. You never know where you will find inspiration.
I have several people I love to watch on youtube, including Jennifer Mcguire: (https://www.youtube.com/user/jennifermcguireink) Ken of Kens Kreations (https://www.youtube.com/user/hesskr) and Kristina Werner, of K Werner designs. (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW6F7pbVdCeTj6WRZoZJ1TQ) Plus many others, way too many to list here. Hit up youtube.com and search card making!!
I also love perusing through crafting magazines. My new favorite is Take Ten, by Stampers’ Sampler. The publication is an investment, but the inspiration found between the covers is priceless!! (https://stampington.com/take-ten).
So, on to this weeks creations. The first is a blank card, which can be used for many occasions. The background technique was inspired by one of my favorite stampers, Jennifer Mcguire. basically, its a new take on water coloring. You just add some color, using your stamp pads ( I used Tim Holtz Distress mini’s) or water based markers, to your stamping block, spritz your block with water, and lay it across your paper. I use water color paper, to avoid excess “pilling” of the paper. Once dry, the sky is the limit. With my card, I used an Anna Griffin embossing folder, and ran it through my cuttlebug to add some extra texture. I used my Wink of Stella to highlight one larger flower, and painted a few white paper flowers for a sweet finish!!
The inspiration for the second card was taken from the Take Ten magazine. They showcase a designer a quarter, and this quarter’s designer was Mischelle Smith (www.mischellemakes.com) She uses Gold Embossing as a frame to watercolor within. I did my own take by using the embossing as a stage to watercolor around! I had fun with this one, and the colors are so amazing, and soft! Well, that’s all I have for this week. time to grab a cup of coffee, and go browsing !! I hope I have been able to lead you to some new places to find inspiration for your creative endeavors!! Have a FABULOUSLY CREATIVE WEEK!!! Sue!!

Hello once again!! I have been somewhat busy in my crafty space this past weekend.
Hubby and I made a trek up to Iowa City, and while browsing through Tuesday Morning ( A Favorite crafty goodies spot), I found this gorgeous floral paper, made by Colorbok. I grabbed it up, and spent Sunday playing with it. These are just a few of the cards that came from that “Play time”. The first is a “Special day” card, basically using the floral paper as my mat on a pre-made kraft card, from Paper Studio, by Hobby lobby. I also added some pale pink ribbon, and a few embellishments from my stash of goodies!
The next photo shows a collection o Thank You cards, also created with this same card stock, and pre-made card bases! The “Thank you” Tags were made from a Martha Stewart punch/stamp set I picked up a while ago, on clearance, at Hobby Lobby, and the other two have gold embossing on them, with the stamp from a retired (SORRY!!) set by Stampin up, called Designer tin of Cards. The gold embossing powder is by Recollections, available at Michael’s
I have to say, I grabbed the Kraft card bases at Hobby Lobby while on sale last week. I was loving the size, square 5.5 X 5.5, but wasn’t sure about the Kraft card stock itself. To me it always seems more masculine, and somehow always reminds me of the brown paper bags we used to get at grocery stores, back in the days before plastic became all the rage. You remember, the ones we used to use to cover our books in High School!! Anyway, I picked them up, and made a few sample cards with them an fell in love, and immediately ran back to Hobby Lobby to grab more while still on sale!! Just goes to show, when you step outside of your comfort zone, you never know what’s gonna happen! To me, these are some of the prettiest cards I have made to date!!
I guess that’s all I have for today, thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you again soon!!
Hi all. Hope your week is going well. Its been a fun filled one here. Had lots of fun celebrating our country’s Birthday this past week. The extra day off meant some extra time to spend in the craft room, playing with some new toys! It also meant the grand opening of a Hobby lobby in our area, so no more hour long drives to get some crafty goodies. I recently acquired some new Tim Holtz Mini Distress ink pads at said new Hobby Lobby, and spent some time playing with them this past few days. The two posted cards are just a few things I came up with. The flower card is just a simple Stampin Up flower stamp, used to test the new ink colors I purchased. I added a few gems, stamped a sentiment inside and I was good to go! Easy Peasy!! The second card is made using a water color technique I saw in a video by Jennifer McGuire! If you don’t follow her on you tube, check her out, she has some amazing techniques that she shares! This involves taking your water based ink, stamping them on a stamp block, misting with water and placing on a card mat, or base. When you pull the block up, your left with an amazing background to use in various projects!! I hope you enjoy these little peeks into some of the things I am working on. Don’t forget to check out my youtube channel for more crafty fun: https://www.youtube.com/c/SusanHumphreysAnotsocraftycrafter,
Wow, its been a year, at least, since I’ve been able to do anything with my blog! I’m so sorry about that. I do have some new things to share with you, and I do plan on updating on a regular basis, so you all can see what I’m working on, so let’s get started. I recently participated in a vendor fair and made some cards to display while there. Most of these are very basic designs, but if you would like information about them, please leave me a comment and I’ll do my best to get back to you with all the details and materials needed. This is just to update my blog, all further entries will have information included on how the cards are made, and all the supplies I used!
Have a great week, Sue, your not So Crafty Crafter!!
